Ooty - Tamil Nadu

There are some songs which make you nostalgic and take you back in time. As I was listening to the Kashmir mein tu kanyakumari number from Chennai express i experienced a similar feeling - taking me back 2 years in time to my trip to Ooty with my family.

The tea plantations, the heavy down pour, mountains covered with fog - all conveying a very mystical feeling.

The ever green botanical garden, the colourful rose garden, the tall mountain range are breath taking, in addition the toy train experience is not worth missing

Vailankanni - Our Lady of Good Health

I’ve been to vailankanni many times now, but I’m still amazed by beautiful churches filled with throngs of people ardently worshiping and thanking Our Lady.

The development of the vailankanni Church or the Basilica of our Lady of good health is based on three miracles - the apparition of Mary and Jesus to a slumbering shepherd boy, the curing of a lame buttermilk vendor, and the survival of Portuguese sailors assaulted by a violent sea storm. The structure of the church itself is very beautiful with its pure white walls and minute detailing.

This is a Chappel near the church where Mother Mary is said to have appeared for the first time.

I my most recent visit, I had the opportunity of witnessing the opening of the Morning star church by Fernando Cardinal Filoni. The massive 60000 sq ft church is one of the largest churches in India with a seating space of upto 1000 people. The spotless white walls of the church with its 150 feet tall towers form an astounding picture against the white clouds – a beautiful picture I simply had to take.

The Twin Spires- St Philomena Church Mysore India

I love the look and feel of old churches. The look of the stone façade, the aura surrounding the entire place and the history of the building itself is very intriguing. Most of my trips invariably include a visit to a Church. On my trip to Mysore, I had the opportunity to visit the Church of St Philomena which is a very famous tourist attraction.

Constructed in 1956, the impressive stone structure stands at a height of 175 feet and is almost 200 years.

The massive twin spires of the church are prominent features visible from a distance.

The church is designed to resemble a cross with its longer central portion and two wings on either side

In 1799, the Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar III realized the need for a Christian church for the British officers and soldiers who had settled down in Mysore and thus began the foundation of this church. A painting of the church is also seen in the halls of the Mysore Palace.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD !!!

I’ve always been fairly good at clicking pictures. Be it my mom’s age old (read vintage) Kodak cameras or my neighbors new digital camera or my recently acquired pride and joy – my Nikon DSLR 5100. This new addition to my list of gadgets gave my talent a much welcomed boost and here I am, eager to share some of my pictures with you.

Feel free to leave your comments and share my work. Being from a customer service background, I understand the importance of feedback ;)
